Shockwave therapy is an evidence based non-invasive medical treatment that uses high-energy sound waves (acoustic waves) to stimulate healing in injured tissues, reduce pain and improve mobility. It works faster than conventional treatments to improve recovery time.
A device delivers pulses of acoustic energy into the affected area (through a handheld applicator pressed against the skin).
The effects of shockwave therapy include the release and relaxation of hypercontracted muscles, tissue mobilisation, improved flexibility and elasticity, stimulation of lymphatic metabolism, lymph flow and blood circulation.
However, shockwave therapy is not recommended for a few conditions and a detailed history will be carried out to ensure Shockwave therapy is right for you.
The MASTERPULSĀ® ultra systems are especially suitable for the following indications with research backing it's efficacy. This list is a guide and not exhaustive.
